The.Lab is producer / agent for contemporary
dance
We founded The.Lab Art & Media in
November 2001, and first of all we intended it to be an agency
for contemporary dance; however, it increasingly took on other
functions i.e. as producer/ co-producer, and as an agency for
project management. We grew our own productions featuring
icons such as Susanne Linke, Joachim Schlömer und Amanda
Miller with other renowned artists, festivals and promoters
(the Salzburg Festival, Opéra de Paris, Festival Theaterformen
in Hannover, Bühnen Köln, Opéra de Lausanne, PACT Zollverein
Essen, Theaterlabor Bielefeld, and Dock 11 Berlin). |
The.Lab is partner for contemporary
dance
The team at The.Lab art & media
combines their experiences gleaned from many years of working
for widely varying ensembles within the worlds of theatre and
ballet/ dance, as well as film production. With that basis we
are able to stand shoulder to shoulder with artists in an
advisory capacity who operate autonomously; alternatively
artists become aware of our competences and that we are in a
position to produce or manage them. There are numerous levels
in our lobby work for dance/ contemporary dance: for instance,
our expert dialogues advising both theatre managers and
directors of dance companies. In cooperation with the various
departments of the Bühnen Köln, we developed an organisational
model that enabled Amanda Miller's Pretty Ugly Dance Company
to establish a new creative home base for themselves: since
2005 pretty ugly tanz köln has enjoyed their new status i.e.
becoming the new dance company of Cologne, a prestigious city.

The.Lab is service provider for contemporary
dance
In cooperation with other institutions and
significant dance-producing figures we would like to become a
forum for the regional and international dance scene. Along
with others we wish to design locations at which it is
possible to develop appropriate conditions for performances
and productions not to mention aiding the promotion and
management of dance. We are confident of conquering space for
newcomers, renowned choreographers, and last but not least the
many tendencies and currents of this extremely lively branch
of art i.e. the dance scene.
