Paralipomena
Paralipomena
(Greek Plural.) "Leftovers", supplements...
In
her solo 'Paralipomena', Amanda Miller has drawn on her
memories of latent creative residues that have lingered
on in dance remnants left behind by other choreographers
the un-reused remnants and residues of their
productions. The ballet which arose in this way is
characterised by acute transparency and yet manages to
radiate intense intimacy. A second performer, Rick Kam,
is present with her on stage; his task is to position
ever anew small houses and towers so as to form squares;
there Amanda Miller develops her dances amongst their
inner and outer boundaries illuminated by sharply
contoured light and in half-darkness.
"In the dusky and sombre 'Paralipomena',
Amanda Miller presents herself as a dancer. In abstract
and ambiguous signs, she evokes and conjures up space."
